False doctrine or teaching always comes to the church subtly. When I was a senior at Azusa Pacific University we had a professor in charge of chapels who began introducing some very strange practices. As we sat in our seats (chapel was mandatory then) we were instructed to close our eyes and imagine ourselves climbing up a hill. Then we were to sit down and imagine the feel of the grass, the smell of the grass . . . (You get the idea). This kind of stuff went on for a few chapel services and students began to grumble that this stuff was too weird until one day, at the end of the service, three or four jocks marched up to the front of the chapel and began singing that old hymn “There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb.” Nothing publicly was ever said but the weird chapels stopped. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
